My mother brought me to this world
With many hopes and dreams
And as I sit and think of her
How wonderful it seems
She's always lived in times of trial
In our society
Where others see no hope at all
She sees her destiny
She sees opportunities for change
Things to create or to remove
Her vision of a better day
Informs her every move
She draws her strength on every day
From the eternal source
Her spirit brings forth power
Through divine love not human force
She always gives her very best
To her community
She takes on the formidable causes
She accepts the responsibility
Where there is no clear agreement
She will stand with dignity
As the universe aligns with her
Great things always come to be
Despite endless commitments in the world
She has always had time for me
Her love is always present
Displayed for all to see
Although for oh so many years
I wasn't there for her you see
She never wavered even once
She stood relentlessly for me
She means so very much to me
She offers support and inspiration
Her faith in me is constant
Her devotion fuels my motivation
And as I sit and think of her
I am full of love and humility
If we all would live as she does
How wonderful this world would be
