The Chrysalis Experience Newsletter
July 2006

There are a number of things that differentiate The Chrysalis Experience from other approaches to self-awareness and transformation; however, many say that the most unique and revolutionary aspect of our approach is the development and use of transformational poetry. With this in mind, I have decided to change the format of our e-zine.

Instead of having one poem associated with an overall theme for the e-zine, I thought it might be fun to have five poems for each e-zine, with each poem associated with one of the categories of poems posted on The Chrysalis Experience Website.

Those of you who have visited the Inspirational Poems page of the website may have wondered about the significance of the five different categories-- "To Be Alive," "Love and Appreciation," "A Love To Last A Lifetime," "She Is The One," and "I Am."

I started writing poetry in 1994, when I wrote the poem that closes The Seven Seeds. For years, I wrote poems sporadically for a variety of reasons and without any intention to do much with them other than share them with a relatively small circle of family and friends. However, five years ago, I decided suddenly, and to my surprise, that I was a writer and, even more surprisingly, a poet:-)

The first thing that I did after accepting the label of being a writer and poet was to inventory my work, which included dozens and dozens of poems. I thought it might be useful to categorize them as collections. That was the origin of the five categories, which I still use today.

In this E-Zine, I will explain the significance of these categories and offer five poems that demonstrate that significance.

I always value and appreciate feedback, so please let me know which poems touched, moved, inspired and/or enlightened you....and especially what about them produced that impact.

  • To Be Alive

The poems in this category reflect on the experience of being alive from the perspective that there are only two fundamentally different ways to relate to and experience life. One way is being "inspired, on purpose and authentic" and the other way is being "uninspired, off purpose and inauthentic."

In this category, we highlight the poem, "The Voice That Always Beckons You."

    Love And Appreciation

The poems in this category honor and express love and appreciation for people, individually and as collectives. These powerful acknowledgements represent a perspective that reflects the "inspired, on purpose and authentic" expression of the person or collective that is the subject of the poem.

In this category, we highlight the poem, " Legacy," which I wrote to honor my father on his 91st birthday.

A Love To Last A Lifetime

The poems in this category reflect a perspective that sees a life partnership as an opportunity to experience an inspired and inspiring relationship that fulfills purpose, potential and destiny...a relationship with a compelling sense of purpose and destiny.

In this category, we highlight the poem, "There Is A Love That Is Eternal."

    She Is The One

The poems in this category represent a vision of the "woman of my dreams." She's an inspired and inspiring woman, passionately living the life she was born to live.

In this category, we highlight the poem, "She Is The One."

    I Am

The poems in this category represent declarations of self that reflect the perceived dilemmas associated with being born into our culture and society and offer the possibility of relating to one's life as an inspired calling.

In this category, we highlight the poem, "I Did Not Choose To Be A Hero."

    Keepsake Signature Poems

Within our library of over 100 transformational and inspirational poems, written by Clyde E. Gumbs, we have our collection of Signature Poems. These six poems are the basis for many of our speaking engagements, workshops and coaching conversations.

We offer the Signature Poems in keepsake formats (i.e. handcrafted accordion books, handcrafted collage cards, 11" x 17," 8.5" x 11" posters, and 4" x 9" rack cards) that make extraordinary gifts and memorable mementos.

    Website

Our Signature Poems, "The Wise Woman," "The Masterful Man," "The Passionate Professional," "The Perfect Partner," "The Purposeful Parent," and "I Was Born To Be Victorious" form the foundation of our approach to introducing people to the possibility of living your life as an inspired calling and as if a life of unimaginable inspiration, excellence and fulfillment is your birthright.

With this in mind, and in response to the longstanding requests of our existing clients and prospective customers, we have developed our Signature Talks and our Signature Keepsake Poems.
